A change is gonna come...

Greetings SVAers!

Just to give you a little heads up - our tech team are working on a new forum for SVA. It’s a little rocky due to various issues, and it’s unlikely that we’ll be able to move all the old posts over to the new forum. You don’t need to do anything at all just now - we’ll let you know when it’s all tested and up and running.

However, what I’m after here are some ideas on how you’d like to see it evolve - we’ve got a chance to make it new and shiny! So we’ll be doing the motivational groups of VAs suggested by Angela where you work with a peer group of businesses at a similar stage to you to develop the business and be accountable to them… What else would be good?

I’d like to keep the general queries sections, as I think it’s nice when everyone helps one another out regardless of their business experience.

Do we want cool emoticons that actually work?
Some specialist sections?

Hi Caroline

Would it be a good idea to have a sort of ‘testimonial’ section where VA’s can post/recommend good sub-contractors? A bit like a reference or experience they’ve had. Not a name and shame of course, just positive comments.

I’m not sure I’ve phrased any of that correctly but I’ve been burned a few times and am now reluctant to use sub-contractors.

Oh that’s actually a nice idea - would need to be worded quite carefully of course, but I think it would be good to see some of the positive experiences of people using subcontractors and VAs rather than just horror stories!

I second Sheena’s proposal - it’s nice to give a pat on the back for a job well done. It’s also a good way of perhaps eliminating, by not patting, those to whom you have sub-contracted but have proved to be a disappointment - without naming and shaming.

It would certainly add kudos to any VA to be recommended by others on the SVA forum.
